The existing timber roof trusses had to be modified, as the horizontal tie beams would otherwise have interfered with the first floor. In order to nevertheless absorb the roof thrust forces, new concrete shear walls were installed at ground floor level, founded on new foundations. The new floors are composed, on the one hand, of a timber joist structure and, on the other hand, of exposed beams and infill blocks, with the infill blocks consisting of profiled Heraklith panels serving as permanent formwork. Outside, a new carport was added, consisting of steel columns supporting a cantilevering timber framework.
