VCF-cigars wants to increase the factory squared meters, create new headquarter and insert itself as a landmark along the highway. The stack program is composed of a parking, two level of industries and a park with offices on top of it. The building is divided in three parts that are staggered creating for each part an outer outside span providing either green spaces or outside staircases. The project is made of prefabricated concrete beams columns and hollow-core slabs. It has a footprint of 153 m long for 55 m wide and a total height of 28 m. The project follows a square structural grid of 8.5 by 8.5 m. For the horizontal stability, an exoskeleton is foreseen with a series of diagonals placed around the building. The key element of the project is the way elements connect together. Taking inspiration from the wooden tabaco shed, eccentric connections were designed where beams come and connect next to the columns, while successive beams are stacked on top of each other. In the central part of the building, a double-height storage zone accommodates mobile racks requiring 17-meter spans. To achieve this increased span, a truss system was introduced by adding an additional series of diagonals above, at the park level.
